Hellboy
Hellboy was nervous. In fact, he wasn't sure the last time he'd been this nervous. He had a date. He had a date with a gorgeous blonde and it scared the crap out of him. He couldn't figure out one single reason why she'd be going on a date with him. He was wearing a pair of black leather pants, a black tee shirt and his black boots. He had his father's rosary looped through one of the belt loops on his pants and even though he felt naked without it, he'd left his gun behind. He also had his long brown coat on. Mostly because it made him feel like he had something to hide in in public. He had a half smoked Cuban cigar clamped between his teeth and he was currently pacing a little in front of Jill's door. He had a small bouquet of red roses in his right hand because he'd gone to Angel and they'd talked briefly (ie grunted and grumbled then muttered some). Basically, Hellboy had gotten out of the conversation that girls liked flowers. So he had flowers. He finally took a deep breath and knocked lightly on her door then waited for her to open it.

Turned out, Hellboy wasn't big on texting. The buttons were little and he'd rather hear Jill's voice instead of read a bunch of words with letters missing. It took too long for him to pick out the letters on the number pad and he wasn't the most patient person ever anyway (and the truth was he missed her. That was 95% of hating text messaging). He would have called Jill to begin with but she'd sent him the text message and he wasn't sure if she was at work or in a class or something. He didn't want to disturb her but when she said he could call, he dialed her number and waited while it rang. When she answered he greeted her with:

"So how much is Angel going to hate me?"

He sort of felt like he was meeting parents and that was something he'd never had to do. Liz's parents were dead and his other girls had been more of the one night stand variety.

Patience wasn't one of Hellboy's strong suits and though he'd never really admit it, neither was solitude. He'd already befriended a couple of stray cats but he didn't have electricity (which meant no TV) and he was fairly stuck inside during the day unless he wanted to chance having Myers bitch at him. It wasn't so much Myers bitching that kept him inside though. He knew if he attracted too much attention they'd just send people to get him. While they couldn't make him do much of anything, they could make his life difficult. In any case, the sum of the situation was that just after midnight the night after he'd met Jill, he was standing on the sidewalk across from the Hyperion hotel. It hadn't been hard to figure out or at least approximate which room she was staying in. She gave him tingles that were different from the feeling he got from the vampire. He waited across the sidewalk, shifting from foot to foot for a while (which is to say about five minutes. See the patience comment) then crossed the street. He could be relatively quiet when he wanted to be so the leap he took to the third story window was fairly silent. He caught the window ledge with his right hand, dangling there for a moment before he tapped on the window with his left hand.
